Description
Situated at the Eastern end of the Himalayas, and located between India and Tibet, The Kingdom of Bhutan is a landlocked country of just half a million people with an area of 47,000 square kilometers. Bhutan forms a giant staircase geographically, starting in the south, from a narrow strip of land in the plains of India at an altitude of 100 m, the elevation rises to high Himalayan peaks over 7000 m in the North on the borders with Tibet.
Some of the rare species that can be seen are Rufous-necked Hornbill, Beautiful Nuthatch, White bellied heron, Pallas’ Fish Eagle, Satyr Tragopan, Black-necked Crane, Wood Snipe, Ward’s Trogon, Blyth’s Kingfisher, Yellow-rumped Honey Guide, Purple Cochoa, Rufus-throated Wren Babbler, Red-headed Parrotbill, Grey Crowned Prinia, and Dark- rumped swift.
You will also see the fabulous Ibisbill, Fire-tailed Myzornis, and a plethora of other gorgeous and little-known Himalayan species.

- Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Accommodation: Hotel Shanti PalaceYour adventure begins as you touch down in New Delhi, a centre of civilization for millennia, and now the capital of India! You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. If time permits, perhaps a little birding in Sultanpur National Park can be done to prepare you for the journey ahead. Or maybe take in some of the historical sites like Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, or Lodhi Gardens.

- Day 02: Delhi to Paro
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel TenzinlingThis morning you depart on Druk Airlines flight in the morning, arriving into Paro at noon / afternoon. On this flight you'll be flying by eight of the ten tallest peaks of the world.
Upon arrival at the new Paro International Airport, you will be met by your guide. Birding along Paro River.

- Day 03: Paro to CheleLa and continue to Thimphu
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Riverview HotelEarly morning to Chele La pass for high altitude birding and continue to Thimphu or hike up to Tigers Nest monastery (5 hrs return trek) and continue to Thimphu.
Expected Birds: Himalayan Monal; Blood Pheasant; Himalayan White-browed Rosefinch; Collared Grosbeak; Himalayan Bluetail; Red Crossbill and Rufous-bellied Woodpecker.Overnight stay.
- Day 04: Thimphu to Phobjikha
